Pronunciation  ann-NIL-ee-oss   a-SPINE-ah
Etymology  Anilios: "The derivation of the generic name Anilios was not provided by Gray (1845), although Savage and Boundy (2012) suggest it was derived from the Greek an- (lacking) + helios (the sun)." (Shea 2015)
aspina: 'without a spine'1, referring to the lack of a tail spine, and not to a lack of a vertebral column.

Range

Originally known only from two specimens collected near Barcaldine. A third specimen was collected from Julia Creek in 2012.2
