Pronunciation  orr-RAY-ah   oh-KULL-tuss
Etymology  Orraya: from the local Morrobalama language word for 'older brother', referring to the fact that this genus is a genetically highly divergent basal lineage to the other leaf-tailed gecko genera.
occultus: "From the Latin - 'hidden' and so, difficult to find."1
