Etymology  Tympanocryptis: 'hidden ear'.
pentalineata: "Named for the dorsal colour pattern of the new species, characterised by five longitudinal white stripes extending along the body, one vertebral, two dorso-lateral and two lateral."1

Range

"Currently only known from the one location, 50 km south-west of Normanton in the gulf region of far northern Queensland".1
