Range

"The current known distribution of D. ameliae is restricted to Bladensberg National Park, and Valetta and Noonbah Stations. However, suitable habitat extends from the Winton area south to the Jundah area in a broad discontinuous strip on the western side of the Thomson River. This habitat is typical of the Goneaway Tablelands subregion of the Channel Country bioregion and encompasses all currently known collection sites."1

Found in the following Australian states/territories

Queensland

Habitat

This species has been found in acacia woodland on "hard pebbly soils in dissected residual ridge country. Ground cover consists almost exclusively of thick Triodia longiceps. This species shows clear niche partitioning from parapatric populations of D. winneckei which occur in the Windorah area on red sandy dune country with Triodia basedowii associations. Here D. winneckei is separated from D. ameliae by approximately 200 km, but closer contact between these taxa is likely as the hard T. longiceps country extends well south of the known collection sites."1
