Range

Tropical and warm temperate waters off the Australian coast, including the Great Barrier Reef. Elsewhere throughout tropical waters. Occasional specimens enter southern Australian waters.

Found in the following Australian states/territories

Queensland, Northern Territory, Western Australia, 200 m bathymetric
