Etymology  Acrochordus: from the Greek acrochordon, meaning 'wart'.

Grey/brown above with many narrow pale bands. The skin is loose, but not as loose as the skin of the Arafura file snake (Acrochordus arafurae). Scales are numerous and pointed. Prominent mid-ventral fold.

Similar species

Arafura file snake (Acrochordus arafurae) - lacks a mid-ventral fold and has a mesh-like pattern instead of bands.

Other scale information   Scales are small, granular, and strongly keeled. There are no obvious ventral, anal, or subcaudal scales.
Danger rating   Non-venomous. Not considered dangerous.
